Cécile Cornet French, b. 1995

Cécile Cornet began her career as an academic, but now chooses to express the ideas born of her research exclusively through painting.

Her paintings, with their instantly recognizable style, use the visual codes of advertising and digital art: saturated colors, striking compositions, naked silhouettes, often joyfully irreverent. This contrast between pop aesthetics and a committed message gives her work its full force: beneath the apparent lightness lie questions that are heavy with meaning. She pokes fun at the visual effect, showing the naked man instead of the historical muse, or surprises us with deliberately trivial scenes sublimated by her delicate, precise painting.
