"This sunset behind a fence is one of the first drawings in the series. Technically, in full confinement, it was a pleasure to work in colored pencil. It is a meticulous work of gradation. I then worked on the drawing of the wire mesh with lead pencil which offers a metallic character which contrasts well with the colored part. Here, the sea is the symbol of confinement and of this reality which pushes us today to admire sunsets on screens. This raises the question of confinement, of our need, of our irrepressible desire for freedom, that of going to see a real sunset.
The inscription 'Royalty free sunset' uses the vocabulary of image banks. Because now many of the images that we are given to see come from these databases. And we live more and more through these fabricated images. "
