Green Horizon 921 is an oval-shaped canvas stretched over a custom, hand-crafted wooden frame. The front surface features a smooth gradient transitioning from a vibrant green to a deep blue, reminiscent of a shifting horizon. From a side view, bright chromatic stripes—orange, fuchsia, violet—accentuate the object’s sculptural presence.

This work resists a purely frontal reading. It requires movement, drawing the viewer around its edges. The organic shape and ethereal color modulation offer a visual experience that is both meditative and dynamic.

With Green Horizon 921, Jan Kaláb furthers his investigation into color volume and sculptural abstraction. Drawing from his background in graffiti and geometric minimalism, Kaláb pushes painting into the realm of objecthood. His mastery of gradient transitions generates a subtle illusion of depth and suspension, while the colored edges provide a burst of unexpected intensity.

The numerical title reflects the serial logic of his practice: each work stands on its own yet belongs to a broader exploration of form, light, and emotional resonance. Green Horizon 921 acts as a perceptual threshold—hovering between the purely abstract and the atmospheric, evoking landscapes without ever depicting them.
