Charles Petillon French, b. 1973
43 1/2 x 57 in
This photograph by Charles Pétillon, titled Marcher sur la tête (Walking on One’s Head), playfully subverts gravity and balance. A figure appears upside down, legs protruding from a dense cluster of white balloons, as if swallowed by this surreal cloud. Set against an open, desolate landscape, the image evokes themes of disorientation and inversion—questioning our perception of reality, stability, and movement. The balloons, light and ethereal, contrast with the solidity of the asphalt, reinforcing the sense of paradox and suspension.
