“Building Hope
and Keep Building It” relates to Eko’s long-term exploration on the theme of
hope, ever since he started painting. The word “hope” refers to many aspects of
life, both as hope for life, and as hope for independence, freedom, rights, and
more. When peace is only seen as hope, then building hope and keep building it
becomes central in order to manifest it. The word encompasses both optimism and
pessimism. This is what happens when people are faced with this dual situation;
when they feel they have climbed the mountain of hope, at the peak they realize
there is much more to climb, much more to hope for.
