Prune Nourry unveils “Reflection", the artist's first public art commission in the US
Installed in Ocean Terrace Park, Miami Beach, the striking sculpture, measuring approximately 25 feet long and 8 feet high, was created in collaboration with acclaimed landscape architect Raymond Jungles and commissioned as part of the newly completed pedestrian promenade in the North Beach neighborhood.
Reflection pays tribute to the US Coast Guard Women’s Reserve (SPARs) of World War II, honoring the service and resilience of the women who served during the conflict. The work depicts a monumental half-face resting in water, its full form revealed by its mirrored reflection, a poetic metaphor for memory, presence and absence. A living red mangrove grows from the sculpture, reinforcing the interplay between art, nature and the coastal landscape.
Positioned along Miami Beach’s vibrant oceanfront, Reflection transforms public space into a contemplative place of reflection and remembrance. By blending sculpture, landscape and historical narrative, the work invites visitors to pause — to see what is visible as well as what lies beneath the surface.
This new installation marks a significant milestone in Nourry’s practice, bringing her commitment to storytelling, cultural memory and environmental resonance to Miami’s urban and cultural landscape.
