Promised Land” highlights the migrant’s condition when faced with the situation
of adapting to a new place. They depart from their homes with the hope of
having a better life, encouraged by the promises of an ideal life, yet in the
new places they face new difficulties they have to navigate through. The
promised land refers not only to a new space to inhabit, but the larger
landscape of policies, rules, and power of a system. When only relying on
promises, the migrant becomes vulnerable, sinking amidst the colorful greenery
bushes representing the idealized version of the life they had been promised.
