David Moreno: Solo

11 January - 21 March 2020 Shanghai

David Moreno's sculptures look like doodles. They portray a dreamy, fantasized architecture standing halfway between concept and realization, between 2D model and precious object. This is what, in part, makes them seem so light: they look as if they weren't completely materialized. They still belong to the realm of thoughts. These are architectures which haven't given up yet on the dreams and fancies of the architect.

This exhibition at Danysz Gallery is unprecedented: it is the first time that the work of David Moreno is presented in China. The Shanghai public is invited to come and discover an array of new installations as well as recent sculptures that bring to light, as always with David Moreno, a world permeated with idealism.

The imaginary buildings of the Catalan artist continue to be mirages that vibrate and sparkle as one circles around them. The eyes are mystified by these hatched patterns and multiple interstices that let the sunshine flow through them. In this, David Moreno seems to agree on all counts with Le Corbusier's famous phrase: "Architecture is the learned game, correct and magnificent, of forms assembled in the light."
