This artwork by Charles Pétillon, created for the European Heritage Days, establishes a poetic dialogue between past and present. A luminous stream of white balloons emerges from the doors and windows of the historic Amfreville-sur-Iton farm, built in 1878, symbolizing a breath of movement within the rigid architectural structure. The word disruption originates from the Latin disruptionem, meaning rupture or fracture. Widely used in the digital economy and startup culture to describe innovation, it finds an unexpected resonance here, referencing the architectural advancements introduced by the farm in its time. By juxtaposing an ephemeral installation with this historic site, Pétillon questions how architecture evolves and how contemporary art can act as a bridge across time.
