We decided to focus our work on the case of Estonia, which is planning
to have governmental services relying increasingly on AI, including the
judicial system. Estonia has the ambition of having several cases judged
using artificial intelligence in 2020.
Each of the paintings refers
to a case in law history which has been misjudged, most of the time
resulting in life changing consequences for all of the people involved
in the case.
This collection questions the level of acceptance and
trust which can be given to a decision made using an intelligent and
possibly biased tool. It is a direct invitation to think of the ethics
involved when judging the decisions of an AI as opposed to the ones of a
human.
