Charles Pétillon’s Fragilité juxtaposes the imposing weight of concrete with the delicate lightness of his signature white balloons. Emerging from the crevice of massive, angular breakwaters, the balloons appear as if they are gently pushing against the rigid structure, introducing a sense of breath and movement into an otherwise static environment. The contrast between the industrial, immovable forms and the fragile, ephemeral quality of the balloons evokes themes of resilience, tension, and the coexistence of strength and vulnerability. Set against the vast openness of the sea, the installation highlights the delicate balance between human-made structures and natural forces, inviting contemplation on the impermanence of even the most seemingly indestructible materials.
