VILLA M

A new artstic experience

A new creative place in Paris:

Now artists have a new place to settle down in Paris: the Villa Molitor, the new artists'' residence by Magda Danysz. Villa Molitor''s mission is to permanently welcome artists from all over the world who are invited to create and exhibit artworks, video art, special projects ... The ambition of the place is to allow the exchange between the artists and the public. Villa Molitor will offer more informal appointments such as book signings, round tables, private visits...

About the Villa M. :

Art never left Molitor. During the renovation works, with the complicity of Magda Danysz, the doors remained open to great artists. Since the opening, Molitor has hosted numerous exhibitions and artists have come to invest the different spaces. Art has now its new spot with La Villa Molitor. Installed in the mythical rotunda at Molitor, the Villa invites you to stroll through a 200 m2 space on two levels, with a view overlooking the winter pool and its impressive glass roof.

"At the age of 88, Molitor has had several epochs, several currents, several lives that have forged the place of today. Among these lives we wanted to celebrate the freedom and creativity of artists by allowing them to meet and exchange with the public again in a Villa that is unlike any other ... " explains Thomas Greggory, Managing Director of Molitor.

"This is certainly not a swimming pool, nor a gallery, nor even a museum. Here, it is a question of reviving the past, the artistic DNA of this crazy place, but what is at stake is also questioning the new ways of showing art. More than ever, the audience wants to share the work in progress with artists." adds Magda Danysz, gallery owner, curator and artistic director of Villa Molitor.

Molitor is a unique and historical in the heart of Paris. Today, a new space opens its doors in the block, like an ode to art and creation: the Villa Molitor. It is a new secret place in the 16th arrondissement, this unexpected artists'' residence, full of surprises, can only be discovered by appointment.

Molitor, a land of art since 1989. Inaugurated in 1929, Molitor became the most popular swimming pool in Paris for 60 years. Closed in 1989 and classified as a heritage building, the place was then invested by the graffiti artists who made it an immense ground of expression and, little by little, a temple for the underground Parisian scene. Street artists from around the world left there their imprint. In 2014, Molitor has been renovated and the whole block can be summarized around three words symbolizing its multiple facets: pool, art, life.
