OBVIOUS I Scène nationale d’Aubusson

Aubusson, France
The collective exhibition Sciences and Fictions, presented at the Théâtre Jean Lurçat – Scène nationale d’Aubusson, shines a spotlight on Obvious, the pioneering French trio at the crossroads of art and artificial intelligence.
Known worldwide for bringing AI-generated art to major museums and auction houses, Obvious leads this new edition of the CURA program with Imagine, a groundbreaking project developed in collaboration with the Paris Brain Institute (ICM). Using their Mind-to-Image process, the artists translate human brain activity into generative visuals—fulfilling the century-old surrealist dream of direct, automatic creation imagined by André Breton.
Curated by Annso Boulan and Dominique Moulon, this third and final CURA exhibition explores how technology and fiction shape the way we perceive reality. Alongside Obvious, the show brings together Donatien Aubert, Cécile Babiole, Véronique Béland, Vincent Fournier, and Jeanne Susplugas, whose works each question our relationship with science, consciousness, and imagination. From algorithmic weavings and disappearing dreams to virtual journeys through the mind and speculative astrobotanical gardens, Sciences and Fictions offers a poetic reflection on how art reinvents itself through scientific innovation.

Running from October 16 to December 12, this exhibition marks the culmination of the national CURA program supported by the French Ministry of Culture and the CNAP, reaffirming Aubusson’s role as a space where visual arts, performing arts, and craft traditions continue to converge and evolve.
