JR transforms the Pont Neuf in June 2026
Paris, France
In June 2026, JR will take over the Pont Neuf with a monumental installation titled The Pont Neuf Cavern. From June 6 to 28, Paris’s oldest bridge will be transformed into a vast visual cavern. Its arches and balustrades will be covered with large scale photographic prints of limestone blocks, creating the illusion of a natural grotto running across the Seine.
The project recalls Christo and Jeanne Claude’s historic wrapping of the Pont Neuf forty years ago. JR offers a contemporary reinterpretation where illusion, memory and history intersect. Stone becomes image, architecture becomes scenery and the public space becomes a transitional passage.
Free and open to all, the installation will offer a new experience of Paris by day and by night, on foot or from the river. A major artistic moment that is set to become one of the highlights of 2026.
