VHILS

Museum of Design, Lisbon
Lisbon’s MUDE (Museu do Design) presents “Vhils: Selected Editions from 2008 to 2024”, a major retrospective by Portuguese artist Alexandre Farto, widely known as Vhils. The exhibition runs until 1 March 2026 and reveals a more intimate and experimental side of his practice, bringing together nearly two decades of editions developed throughout his career. Rather than focusing solely on monumental murals, this show highlights the central role of artistic editions in Vhils’ work, showing how they serve as a space for experimentation with materials, processes, repetition and variation. Presented for the first time in this scope, these works invite visitors to look beyond the familiar urban façades and discover the precision and innovation at the heart of his artistic inquiry.
Curated by Pedro Ferreira, the exhibition traces the evolution of Vhils’ visual language from 2008 to 2024, including technical developments, collaborations and reflections of global realities captured in cities such as Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro, Paris and London. Located in Lisbon’s historic Baixa district, MUDE’s renovated spaces provide a fresh context for this artistic journey, making Selected Editions a must-see for anyone interested in contemporary art, design and the intersections between graphic experimentation and cultural expression.
Until 1 March 2026
