Painted during a residency in Ibiza, this work by Charles Hascoët reflects an intimate and observant approach to everyday life. In it, the artist depicts Ida, a dog he encountered every day, who over time became a familiar and silent presence.
Through this portrait, Hascoët captures not so much an animal figure as a bond—almost imperceptible—forged through repetition, observation and affection. The painting, imbued with gentleness and restraint, conveys this discreet relationship, in which the ordinary takes on an emotional dimension.
As is often the case in his work, the image oscillates between reality and inner projection, allowing a form of melancholic tenderness to surface—one characteristic of memories in the process of being formed.
