Leonard McGurr，又名Futura，1955年出生于纽约。上世纪70年代初，他与马克·埃德蒙兹（Marc Edmonds，又名Ali）成立了艺术团体Soul Artists。作为80年代初在纽约兴起的颇具影响力的地下运动的参与者，他参加了1981年在PS1举办的著名展览《纽约/新浪潮》（New York / New Wave），成为这一时期文化热潮的亮点。同时，他还与The Clash乐队成为了朋友，1981年他曾为乐队在欧洲巡演的演唱会舞台上作画。作为一位具有重要历史意义的艺术家，他经常应邀参加世界各地机构所举办的项目和展览，包括卡地亚当代艺术基金会和巴黎的东京宫、洛杉矶的MOCA和波士顿的美术博物馆等。Futura还经营着自己的设计工作室Futura Laboratories，通过该工作室，他与Virgil Abloh（Off White主理人、Louis Vuitton男装设计师）、Nike、Karl Lagerfeld、Lévi's等品牌和时装设计师合作。艺术家现生活于纽约。
