    Saype I Constellations I 4 JUIL - 1 AOUT

Artist Saype, born Guillaume Legros in 1989, is internationally recognized for his monumental and biodegradable frescoes painted directly on grass, snow, or sand. Using natural pigments made from charcoal, chalk, water, and milk proteins, his works are designed to blend into nature, carrying powerful messages about humanity, the environment, and solidarity. Projects like 'Beyond Walls' have left a lasting impression, transforming landscapes into global visual narratives.
Constellations unveils a new series of works that questions memory and trace. The artist is exhibiting "constellations" for the first time: assemblages of canvases painted on-site during the creation of his frescoes and photographic fragments of the in situ work. These canvases, exposed to the same natural elements as the frescoes, capture the event from an intimate, human-scale perspective, offering a material resonance to works destined to disappear. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to discover how Saype transforms the programmed erasure of his creations into a sensitive and lasting archive.

  • WORK IN PROGRESS

In June 2026, Saype brought one of his monumental frescoes to Minneapolis, weaving his interlinked human figures into the American soil as part of his itinerant series Beyond Walls.

  • WORK IN PROGRESS

Throughout the years, Saype has also developed in parallel to his land art a significant body of studio work, alongside his ephemeral frescoes, the artist pursues a more intimate practice within the walls of his atelier.

The exhibition also features a glimpse into Saype's studio in the basement, with sketches, tools, and references testifying to the creative process. Upstairs, visitors can admire a human chain of ten graphite drawings, oil paintings, "pixels" (paper fragments impregnated with fresco pigment), as well as works combining aerial photography and methodological instruments. Each piece reveals the complexity and depth of Saype's approach, where the ephemeral gesture of the fresco is extended and reinterpreted through various mediums.

Born in Belfort in 1989, Guillaume Legros is also known by the pseudonym Saype. Following in the footsteps of other Land art artists, Saype has taken up the idea of nomadic art on a global scale, interacting with the monumentality of landscapes to better integrate himself into them. In 2018, his project in support of the SOS Méditerranée association, created in the heart of Geneva, attracted considerable media attention, being seen by 120 million people around the world. In 2019, he was named by Forbes magazine as one of the 30 most influential people under 30 in the field of art and culture.
