André, Marcus Jansen, Felipe Pantone: Venit occursum

18 April - 28 June 2020 Shanghai

"Do remember they can't cancel the spring".
David Hockney

The great English painter David Hockney chose a few days ago to give this title to a painting in reaction to the troubled times we are going through. Produced on iPad, this colourful artwork represents a bouquet of golden daffodils rising from a bright green lawn and standing out against a pastel blue sky.   David Hockney is not the only artist to have celebrated spring in his works in such a vibrant way: from Botticelli to Magritte, from the Renaissance to Surrealism, through Impressionism or Expressionism, the greatest masters of painting have endeavoured to depict this renewal of life, its permanence, and the hope it embodies for mankind. Botticelli, Delacroix, Klimt, Gauguin, Monet, Matisse, Van Gogh, Dali, or Picasso... the list is dizzying.   With a selection of works by André, Marcus Jansen and Felipe Pantone, this exhibition is an invitation to celebrate spring, the season of all possibilities and the return of colors. A way to stimulate our senses and to reaffirm the primacy of life. In this time of social distancing and isolation, we have to find new ways of being together and sharing experiences. We believe that art can play this role!
