This work stages a group of
passengers absorbed in the ordinary experience of the journey, gathered within
a single frame yet isolated from one another by their own thoughts, screens or
absences. The window here acts as an ambiguous membrane: it brings bodies
closer while maintaining a psychological distance between them and the outer
world. Gazes seem to slip beyond the frame, unable to anchor themselves
lastingly in the present. The chemical treatment of the image accentuates this
impression of progressive effacement. The forms appear through layers of
translucent matter, veils and zones of indeterminacy that evoke as much
condensation on a window as the residues of a memory. The dark hues punctuated
by diffuse clarities create an introspective atmosphere where the city is never
shown directly, but perceived through the traces it imprints upon those who
traverse it. Here, the metro becomes less a setting than a transitory state: a
place where contemporary solitude is discreetly revealed at the heart of the collective.
