This composition immediately
draws the viewer towards a fragmented yet recognisable human face, partially
effaced, suggesting a profound human presence emerging from urban debris. The
white areas of the upper layer have been meticulously carved away, leaving
behind a speckled, almost pixelated texture that defines the contours of the
face and hair. Revealed fragments of text, such as « travel », and the
fragmented photographic elements of the underlying posters, add depth and
context, anchoring the portrait in the reality of its urban origins. The raw,
torn edges of the material underscore the artist's engagement with the
unrefined environment of the city. The work is a commentary on the faces and
stories buried within the urban landscape.
