its support, the individual ceramic units forming a fragmented yet coherent
image. The black-and-white composition immediately evokes the raw, contrasted
aesthetic of early twentieth-century urban photography and engraving, while
integrating the textured reality of a metro station. The upper portion clearly
depicts the familiar signage of the Parisian metro (“PROCHAIN ARRÊT” and
“CHÂTELET”), anchoring the work in a specific urban context. The human faces
emerging from the carved surfaces convey a sense of anonymity and collective
experience, reflecting the myriad of individuals who daily traverse these
public spaces.
