Charles Pétillon Roppongi Art Night 2026

Tokyo, Japan

Charles Pétillon takes over Tokyo’s public space with a monumental installation of white balloons, suspended in mid-air, as part of Roppongi Art Night.

For Roppongi Art Night 2026, the festival draws its inspiration from Paris’s Nuit Blanche, putting France and its artists in the spotlight. For its 15th edition, seven artists active in France are invited, including Charles Pétillon and Yoann Bourgeois.

Charles Pétillon presents a monumental installation, suspended in the air and created for the occasion: clouds of white balloons floating above the public, in the heart of public space, in one of the city’s liveliest districts. As night falls, the installation lights up and draws a large crowd, gathered beneath the balloons.

This French presence in Tokyo echoes the very history of the event, born from an exchange between Paris and Japan. It illustrates art’s ability to transform public space, making it poetic, accessible and shared.
