This work immediately commands attention through
its reused material: an authentic Parisian metro door serving as the canvas for
a powerful portrait. The door's original turquoise and white livery, complete
with a window and the emblematic worn « Attention ! » sticker depicting a
rabbit, anchors the piece in a specific urban context, evoking the daily
commute and the anonymity of city life. Vhils has engraved upon the glass
surface a haunting, almost ghostly face that emerges from a chaotic layering of
black spray paint and drips. This artistic intervention transforms a
utilitarian object into a reflection on human presence within the urban
environment, where faces and stories are often obscured or forgotten amid the
relentless rhythm of modern life.
