Ludovic Vernhet: Draw me a sheep

4 July - 22 August 2020 Paris

Ludovic Vernhet combines pencil and the colored pencil to give life to works in which he takes hold of his favorite themes, often in a shrill spirit. He turns a police car into a burning bush, trees in the chimney to a nuclear power plant, or combines a dove of peace and a firearm into an image of a hopeful antinomy.

The details and the delicacy of the line remind us of the 16th century miniatures. The fluorescent and luminous green - the artist's signature color - gives a singular intensity to these graphic works, the mastery of the colored pencil is amazing, and we discover a section of the artist's universe in which he effortlessly deploys his talent.

Straightforwadly, bearing the title of the date on which they were produced, the works of Ludovic Vernhet are offered here for our personnal interpretation. The artist expresses his reflections on the world but leaves us free to write down our own readings, to imagine our sheep.
