Ursula BIEMANN (Switzerland) ? SUBATLANTIC, 2015

Janet BIGGS (USA) ? VANISHING POINT, 2009

Video, Color, Stereo, format 16:9, 10?32??.

« I first went out to the salt flats in 2007 for a "go/see". During the trials, I saw a woman, Leslie Porterfield, crash at over 100 miles per hour.  She broke seven ribs, punctured her lung, and had a severe concussion.  They had to helicopter her out.  Half a year later, I heard that Leslie Porterfield was going back to race at Bonneville in 2008 and was more determined than ever.  I knew I needed to go back to and film her, in the otherworldly landscape of Utah's salt flats. The salt flats are stunningly beautiful, but brutal. Leslie let me wire her bike with a small camera on one of her runs ... a run where she set a (non-gendered) world speed record, with a top speed of 234 miles per hour. »

« Beauty in its truest form seems to be a byproduct, rather than a conscious effort. Beauty needs a scar (at least 18  cm long as in Salman Rushdie's novel), it needs a false note or tiny birthmark in order to be perfectly beautiful. All of the above seem to apply to Halka/Haiti 18°48'05?N 72°23'01?W. »

Shannon PLUMB (USA) ? RATTLES AND CHERRIES, 2004

Super 8 transfered in digital, 4?20??

« This video is so FUCKING BEAUTIFUL because it encompassed many ?firsts? for me.  When I set up my camera to film Rattles and Cherries I was just beginning motherhood, the boy in the film was my first son, I was home alone breast feeding while getting ready for my first solo show. It was my first attempt at trying to be an artist and a mother at the same time. Becoming a mother is so Fucking Beautiful ? but it is sucks, too. »

Lee YANOR (Israel) ? ONLY ONE STORY, 2017

Video, Color, Stereo, 7?

Cut: Mariana Bouhsira & Ifat Tadmor

Original music: NORSCQ

« The repetitions of actions and interferences in ONLY ONE STORY opens up the possibility of a unified yet enigmatic story, synthesizing an ever-changing point of view. I wanted to flood the screen with underwater shots, beating blue heart turned inside-out, like coming from a deep strata of consciousness. Running in parallel and intersecting,
Beauty and disaster,
Floating and drowning,
Grasping and missing,
Outside and inner,
In a loop of time and space. »
